Hasbro has recalled 985,000 Easy Bake Ovens because there are a reported 246 cases of children getting burned by the ovens. This is 0.025%. So let's see if I have this correct?

Children use an oven that has a heating device and get burned. I don't want to see any child get hurt but I have to wonder---how do you make an oven "safe" for children?

The Easy Bake Oven has been around since 1963 and there has been over 16 MILLION ovens sold in 40 plus years. From 1963 to 2006, the heating device was a light bulb. Light bulbs do get hot and will burn you if you touch them for any length of time.  I'm not sure what the heating device that is currently being used and is the reason for the recall. I suppose this change was to facilitate quicker cooking times. There seems to be a cause and effect in play here.

Don't parents teach their children not to touch a real stove or fire because they will get burned? Wouldn't this lesson also translate to a toy that gets hot? Is it because it IS a toy, that parents think that they don't have a responsibility to teach and monitor their children at play?

How much damage can a baseball bat do if little Johnny decided to hit little Tommy over his head with it? Does this make a baseball bat inherently dangerous? Of course not.

As a child, I used to have a wood-burning set. This was a VERY hot iron that would burn patterns in wood. If I would touch the hot end, I would get burned---guess what? I didn't touch the hot end. Of course, you can't find any of these in toy stores today. Try and find lawn darts or chemistry sets.

I'm willing to bet that years ago, little Billy was playing with his chemistry set and decided to ingest some hexamethyleneteramine and then went outside and got impaled by a lawn dart because lawn darts are dangerous.

I find it quite infuriating that during immigration rallys, you see all of the illegal aliens proudly flying the flags of their country in America. They also yell and scream how they didn't cross the border, but the border crossed them.

This got me to thinking. Before the Mexican-American war, the western part of the US was a wild and untamed land. The western migration brought with it, the modern conveniences of the day and over the years, the west was transformed into the modern society that it is today.

Now..fast forward to present day. Millions of illegal aliens have left their supposedly, great countries and have invaded America. It's only now that they want to change history and claim this land as theirs. This is because it's America and not the corrupt, cesspool that they left. If the western US was to be Aztland or Mexico again, they wouldn't want to be there, but instead, would still break the law and illegally enter whatever is left of the US. So we fix the place up and now they want it as their own.

Here's an idea..let's build the fence, enforce all existing immigration laws and in addition, stop the ability to wire money from the US to Mexico. This will force the illegals to take their money back to their homes and then they won't be able to cross back over. You'll also reunite families. I was never sure why they had to be reunited here and not back in their home country?

No need to deport them. They deport themselves.

USA — In 2004, the small Michigan town of Hamtramck, voted to change the city’s noise ordinance. This was to allow the Al-Islah Mosque to broadcast it’s call to prayer over loud speakers five times a day. I’ve always wondered…why is there a need to broadcast these calls over loudspeakers in today’s society?

Here’s my thinking on this. The broadcast of the calls to prayer is a centuries old method when there was no modern technology like…cell phones. It’s well known that Muslims have cell phones since they use them to set off IEDs that blow up our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. This was obvious in their failed attempt to set off the bombs in London recently. You’d think doctors would have been more book smart and had read the “Jihad For Dummies” series.

So…just as you can receive weather alerts, stock quotes and other information right on your phone, why not have Muslims receive their calls to prayer on their cell phones? This way, Americans aren’t bothered by the caterwauling emanating from speakers five times a day. They can all use AT&T (formerly Cingular) since they claim to have the fewest dropped calls of any network.

Wait…this may not work since their cell phones are being used for other things. Well..it was an idea.
